Ngalula Sandrine Mubenga from Congo-Kinshasa (DRC), PhD in Electrical Engineering, is a professor at the University of Toledo (USA) where she has developed a game changing technology dubbed the “Bilevel Equalizer”. With this technology, batteries will perform better and last longer.
What really makes this technology unique is that it’s the first time that active and passive equalizers have been combined. Equalizers actually help balance cell voltage. What Ngalula Mubenga has done is to group batteries into sections that are balanced by an active equalizer, whereas cells, within each section, are balanced by a passive equalizer. One must keep in mind that cells are connected in series in batteries.
This groundbreaking technology will have implications in the automotive industry (electric vehicles), aerospace industry (satellites), aviation industry (planes) and the energy industry (grid stations), among others.
