The Makapads are made from papyrus and paper waste. The fibers are beaten, dried and softened using very little electricity. The pads are 95% biodegradable, have a higher absorption capacity than competition and can be used for 8 to 10 hours. They provide effective and low-cost protection to every girl or woman who uses them.
The Makapads have been certified by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards. Each packet contains 10 pads and sell for about $0.6 - $0.68, which is almost about half the price of imported sanitary towels.
