Dr Eddy Agbo, from Nigeria, is the CEO of Fyodor Biotechnologies. He has developed a Urine Malaria Test (UMT) that diagnoses malaria in 25 minutes. Antibodies on the paper strip, provided in the UMT kit, interact with the parasite proteins in the urine and produce a signal.
If one line appears on the paper strip, the subject does not have malaria. If 2 lines appear, then the subject has malaria. There is no need to hurt the patient with a needle to get his blood. No need also to have a laboratory , which reduces the overall cost of the diagnosis.
